In your opinion.. What she said was her opinion of her situation...I think she is closer to her situation that any of us here are.


I made my comment based on a guess that she isn't fully informed about her options. The only thing she's close to is her pain. So few people understand how unionization works. People think they get to keep all their rights plus they get some added protection from the collective. But they're really trading their rights for that protection. A thoughtful person could reasonably decide to make the choice to give up rights, I agree. I'm just guessing that right now, given her state of mind, it's probably not an informed decision because people tend not to consciously and willing make that kind of deal.

There are many ways to think straight. They simply get you to different places. Lots of people want different things, and are willing to put up with different kinds of evils. Whatever you choose as a positive, will generally have an negative component. So you weigh and measure and decide which benefits and which evils you prefer. Very rare that two people would come up with equal assessments no matter how "straight" the thinking. JMO of course.
