OT [options] I agree that key people need to be kept and motivated.

I disagree that the way option grants are being used align insiders with shareholders.

I further disagree that keeping and motivating insanely greedy employees is in anyone's best interest. Rather the rewards go entirely to the greediest insiders while the risk taking shareholder is left with an empty shell.

The original concept used to convince shareholders to approve option plans sounded reasonable. The implementation of that concept strikes me as plain out and out theft of shareholder assets.

Should I ever form an opinion on this subject, I'll be sure to let you know. ;^)

V1, I disagree that options are necessary to motivating key people. Most great contributors that I have known have not required or received options. The sole caveat is that expectations need to be managed: if a company explicity or implicity tells employees that stock options are going to be immensely valuable, then you have a problem if they are not or do not promise to be within any reasonable period.
