you have nearly three dozen steel firms bankrupt in the last few years

Oh boo hoo! You and your xenophobe friends won't get any tears from me. If the steel companies can't compete in the free world market, then good riddance! And don't give me the protectionist party line about a level playing field. Assuming that foreign countries subsidize their steel (which is mostly a hoax) then I say "thanks for subsidy." If they want this dinosaur of an industry polluting their land then they can have it. Creative destruction of capital my Luddite friend, that's the beauty and the vibrancy of capitalism. Let the short-sighted cling to the low return industries of the past. The innovative will reap the profits of the future - and believe me it ain't in running a smelter.
