The answer to that question is solid NO!

And O'Neill said we didn't have a recession just a few month ago.

No confidence there, I never really believed the numbers the government tells us anyway. The GDP revisions are proof enough.

To me, it makes sense that the government would restate previously published statistics since some major restatements have been made by corporations which comprise aggregate government statistics.

By the above, I'm not saying it is impossible that the government does not (or has not in the past) manipulate the data and/or make timely changes to the way statistics are computed in order to make things look better than they are for political purposes.

P
