Nicely argued. But last time I checked the Republicans lost the one big national election that counted. I forget the percentages but they got perhaps .1% less than the Dems. Of course, the Senate is not Rep. So not even a plurality.

You don't say. Here I thought Bush was President (I know, I know, popular vote and all that.) But this is still nicely dodged, for even if the Republicans have 45% instead of 50%, it still doesn't compare to the 5% of those you call Progressives and the rest of us call Far Left-wing. So I ask again, if you don't seriously contest these percentages, by what right do you argue that the NY Times is "moderate" and not "left of center"?
