Andrew Sullivan has been on the warpath against Raines for quite some time. After reading a little of Sullivan's current blogging, compared to what he used to contribute to the NYT, I'd say Sullivan needs the NYT, at least in the form of conventional editing oversight for style and focus, rather more than the NYT needs Sullivan. Some people eat Sullivan's stuff up, though. Rush, Drudge, and Fox News are quite popular too, I hear. Some feedback on the topic from the root of all evil: nytimes.com
