i hope you realize that profiling is used on citizens in this country all the time. are teenagers not profiled when they have to pay higher auto insurance even with spotless driving records? are smokers not profiled when they must pay higher insurance even though they may live longer lives than some non-smokers? are gays and iv drug users not profiled when they are categorized as high risk groups for contracting hiv? are blacks not profiled when it is pointed out that they overwhelmingly vote democrat? not all blacks vote democratic, right? yet the profile is still used. most Christians are profiled as republican or pro-life. white heterosexual males are often profiled as voting more likely for republicans. profiling is a fact of life. it is using prior experiences as a tool to look for a higher probability of future events. it is used all the time. i heard neo-conservative fred barnes talking about profiling on tv just the other day. he said, (i'm paraphrasing) "most muslims are not terrorists, but most terrorists happen to be muslim." well i could just as easily say, "most jews are not communists, but many of the leaders of the communist movement happen to be jewish." or.. most jews are not in the mafia, but many leaders of the 'russian mafia' happen to be jews". of course it's ok to profile everyone else, but dare to profile anything jewish and you are an anti-semite. it seems that jews are the one group in america who seem to get a free pass. everyone else it's ok to profile, but don't dare characterize jewish people as a class of their own.
