I agree that, until and unless consumer spending takes a nosedive, cutting interest rates is counterproductive.

Why don't they try a capital equipment tax credit to spur business spending? That's what sucks right now. I already know the answer -- it would take congress six months to even took at it.

A rate cut would spur consumer spending because of all the home equity loans tied to the prime.
