Ha! Sarkie and The Shark were right. Plus we all knew that you would know! (I had never heard of one.)

Ish, We were in Hemet, CA last summer, and one ice cream place we went to only had a swamp cooler, and it didn't work worth a damn. We, and the ice cream, melted. I have seen some that work pretty well, but that one must have been a dud.

I grew up with swamp coolers, my sister STILL has a swamp cooler on her home as the only source of AC. Water flowing over straw pads is great for areas with very low humidity, other than the fact that it throws a lot of water into the vents, and house.

Thank you Ish.

I mentioned a swamp cooler to Carolyn and I thought she was going to bust a gut laughing. She thought I made it up. she still didn't believe it when my husband tried to explain one, she just kept laughing.

I think she thought it was something that cooled down the swamps.
