I totally agree with you...Will The Government Make TOUGH decisions...?? McCain is one of the few straight shooters in Washington...The Government needs to be fiscally RESPONSIBLE and spend within its means...IMO, the new deficit spending is totally reckless and irresponsible...We have tons of pork that is funded BUT the Administration is failing to Fund the EPA SuperFund cleanup effectively -- that toxic waste in hundreds of sites around the country WILL impact the type of country we leave for future generations. We know about the incredible stories of waste and fraud in The Defense Department Spending...IMO, we need to spend more on Homeland Security, State of the Art networked IT for Intelligence BUT we should be spending much less on many of 'the traditional weapons systems'...We need to totally re-think what defense really means in this new millinium...I would contend that we could cut the defense Budget (which is over $400 Billion this year) by over 20%, spend the funds much more intelligently, and have a safer nation. Of course this would take vision and courage to question things and make tough decisions...Lots of Lobbyists and Interest Groups would resist in a massive fight...Do we have any politicians willing to go to battle in this area....?? regards, -el DeepThroat
