how uncertain can be future in pc business if it is mainly between 2 companies?
As far as IBM, yes indeed their business is mainly toward service type and that make them a more likely buyer rather than less likely.

Albert, why would you spend billions to jump into a market where growth is slowing and possibly contracting? We all are hoping that there will be at least slow growth in the PC future but no one really knows what that growth will look like. Again, why spend billions where the future is murky at best?

IMO there are better places for IBM to park their money, data storage being one of them. And frankly, at one point IBM was up against DELL and came out with its tail between its legs. DELL is fearless.
