Re <<How was I misunderstanding Chipack's business.........again? I said conditions were improving but I was unsure of the reason. In fact, the strength of the improvement in business conditions is uneven among the assemby houses. Since CHPC is doing better than most, >>

That is the part you are misunderstanding. CHPC is not doing better than most houses. Take a look at FLEX and AMKR who just reported improving top and bottom line growth. CHPC is a service provider with improving business from low levels, just like the rest of them.

Mani, the problem may be is that I was comparing CHPC's results to other assembly houses such as ASTSF and STTS. FLEX along with SAMN, CLS, JBL etc are considered contract manufacturers which I had thought was a different category of business.

But forgetting that for moment, I have to believe that for most tech companies any improvement in their business will have to come "from low levels" because most of them currently are operating at low levels. So I am unclear what you meant by your last comment. Am I missing something here?
