John, Re: < But I see your point. The quantity is just bragging about your relative wealth. If your intention is to demonstrate your ability to time the market, just posting the action, without the amount, serves the purpose.>

The point of telling of trades, in near real time, was that lots of the folks on the threads told about the 'buys' at the same time they told of the 'sells', and always made money on their trades.

Several posters objected to the practice and dismissed it as 'retroactive trading'. Hence the trend toward posting buys in 'near real time' -- if you want to talk about the sells.

Elmer seems to be saying that Kap's post of volume and date is irrelevent because all anyone has to do is find any trade and claim to be the buyer. I read him as thinking the 'proper' way to the trade is to state intention, then state occurrence. The intent could be stated well afore hand with the occurrence in near real time.

For, in fact, any trade stated in 'near real time' may not been made by the poster. It really represents only a statement of position on the price of the security at that time. There is no way to validate actual execution.

Exactly. I respect Kap's instincts here but I can do without the bragging.
