The entire consumer PC business is outsourced, so a manufacturing shutdown INSIDE HPQ would not have impacted it at all.

The commercial PC businesses are partially outsourced as well. The outsourced pieces of the operation probably kept on running.

It's hard to get a clear read on this one. From what I've heard, I am guessing there were some supply chain issues, but not enough to cause a 2 week shutdown in all orders. I suspect NSM is blaming HPQ for more than their fair share of the shortfall.

As to beating the street, I really don't know. There were some rumors floating around yesterday that they would preannounce to the downside, but nothin came of those.
