I believe any such conclusions are hopelessly compromised by the financial remuneration aspects of these cases. That may be a factor. But people either rebounded or went down hill in the years immediately following the incident when they had no expectation of financial compensation. I don't know how large sums of money available now could affect that. I agree that symptoms are probably exaggerated by plaintiffs, but the general direction of the victim's life was set long ago and should be apparent.
