Read the latest book by Gore Vidal....
It is most interesting:Perpetual War for Perpetual Peace
How we got to be so HATED.

Very disturbing reading as what can be done to UNDO all we have done. The hypocrisy, failure to see how we have done to others what we claim they have done to us.

Dateline Sunday, interview with King of Jordan should be well worth watching. He's amazing. As you say, Patricia, the Bush administration is making remarks aimed at gullible, pliable Americans. I don't view King Abdullah as anyone's "patsy", he's simply too bright, too well educated to be duped or conned by jr. Jordan's position is leave things alone. War against Iraq is a mistake. He came to try to reason with Bush whose mind was made up, more likely whose strings were pulled. How horrible the world thinks Bush represents the true spirit of this country.

Patricia,

Please give some examples where America does not understand the "truth in world situations".

I'm not concerned with the mainstream media in the US, ...they are extremely lazy (for the most part).

I will concentrate on what is happening with Saudi Arabia currently. Qatar is seeing some heat over unflattering remarks by Al Jazeera on Saudi policy as well as allowing the US buildup.

The Wahhabi monarchy of the House of Saud (Salafi religion) has had its own problems lately with Shi'a protests and if you haven't noticed, ...they are aggressively seeking allies to counter our next move. Be expecting even more cooling in relations to the Saudi's.

Jordan's alignment with the US has many reasons. One of these is their dislike of the Salafi. Another is the money we loan them. Also, please note Washington isn't asking for the Palestinian land back that was annexed by Jordan of the East Bank area. Jordan knows how to play Washington to their benefit and always seem to remain cool when the rest of the middle east is boiling.

BTW, did you know the Syrians are assisting us now? What's your comment about them?
