Nobody knows where bin Laden is, or even if he's still alive. If that's such a great success story

I would call it a great success story -- the Taliban is gone, the al Qaeda training camps are destroyed, many al Qaeda are dead and the rest are in hiding. The fearsome Arab street and the brutal Afghan winter turned out not be insurmountable obstacles after all.

The sum total of al Qaeda attacks since Sept 11th is one destroyed synagogue in Tunisia, nothing against America at all. And Mr. Ego bin Laden hasn't even managed to send a new video out to the faithful. I mean, what's the matter with these al Qaeda? Can't they even do digital editing? I would have thought that they would have had some preprepared tapes that they could edit today's paper into, but no, they haven't even managed that.

The Bush administration didn't turn towards Iraq as a post Sept 11th reflex. They turned towards Iraq in late October, when intelligence reached them that al Qaeda was hunting for a dirty bomb, and Saddam was very close to having one to give them.

And once again, your plan is what? Just to wait and see? Make nice with Saddam, send diplomats to chat?
