...and not know whether to slap him on the back and tell him to buck up or give a more therapeutic response? Oh, yes -- I have often been in that position. I usually try to remember some great pep talk from the movies, and try to deliver it as best I can, the "Win one for the Gipper," "Look for the Silver Lining," that kind of bromide stuff. Mostly I look for some quick excuse to hang up the phone, if hopefully that is an option. It is a fortunate thing for humanity that I did not decide to become a therapist.
