Agreed... "Containment of Iran" is actually the top, semi-hidden priority on the US agenda. If anything, a bogus democracy might be an innocuous byproduct. I suspect US strategists think of Turkey as a political model for Iraq (ie any time the so-called National Security Council can pull the plug on the civilian government).
