Sharon is not afraid to sacrifice Isra-Elis, but to no good end. Much like Bush, there is no progress and in the meantime, they are both destroying their respective economies and creating deficits. Sharon's idea is that to counter "terror" he has to step up his own terror and it is not working. His only recourse is to exterminate the people in the West Bank and Gaza, run them off, or to make peace. He does not want peace if it requires Isra-El to give up what is not theirs to begin with. Bush is his enabler.
