So you'd want the government tracking all data traffic into and out of everyone's computer just to stop security software providers from "fleecing the public?" That sounds like an incredibly large fiscal expense not to mention invasion of privacy. Most all ISP's trap known viruses.. I think the real problem is the cost of computers. If computers were incredibly cheap, like ten dollars for a 2 ghz machine.. then we could just throw away every machine that acts funny.
