I agree. That is why I said in my original message that I use quicken as the best measure of inflation. For the past 6 years I have been tracking every dime I spend. Including cash. Once you start with quicken you can't stop. The reports and graphs it gives you back are incredibly useful. And during the past 2 years my expenses have declined even though I have not changed one bit my lifestyle which is quite upscale. But as I said, your mileage where you live may vary.

I believe very little of what our government spews out for our consumption.

On the first day of a statistics course I took, I remember (barely) the professor stating that there were three types of lies in the world.

1. Lies
2. Damned Lies
3. Statistics

How true.
