I met a lot of idiots at Berkeley who got in under the "old" system of test scores. I'd like to see what another system would do. Some of the brightest people I've met, and people whom I most admire, do not test well- and frankly I'd like to see a system that got those people to Berkeley.

Community colleges are great, I wasn't paying any attention to what you said about them. My only point is that test scores are a silly way to sort people, based on my observations of productivity, and accomplishment. And for our first rank universities that is what we should be concerned about. IMO
