Here's my problem with the theory about Karen:
If she were really a liberal, I can't see her denying it. It's certainly no sin to be liberal, though it may be unpopular on this thread. -g But I can't say I've ever seen her shrink from voicing an opinion that might be unpopular.

So what makes you that that I lean demolib when I say I don't?

I recognize that I have the tolerance and cultural appreciation of a typical cosmopolitan, which skews left. And I am definitely not a traditionalist. Beyond that, what's demolib about me? I am fairly green, but not green enough to support Kyoto. I am fairly feminist, but not feminist enough to support the ERA or advocate gender feminism. Other than than, I'm right of center. Why do you insist I'm a demolib?

I'm reminded of the discussion Mulholland and I had a few days ago about banks in black neighborhoods. I said that I was pleased that a bunch of businessmen thought they had a way of making money while serving underserved urban communities. Had I been a demolib, I would have, instead, owned the problem in those communities and advocated the government or me personally doing something about it. Instead I spoke against existing laws designed for that purpose and applauded a free market approach. How does that make me a liberal? Because I'm not mean spirited enough to pile on people who are down? I would put my position on that issue in the compassionate conservative camp. How do you get demolib out of it? How do you get demolib out of any of my positions?

Or maybe it's my aversion to the sanctimonious religious right who have co-opted the party that would be my natural home, the GOP?

Well?
