DJ Thoratec Files 7.6M Share Shelf For Thermo Electron

WASHINGTON (Dow Jones)--Thoratec Corp. (THOR) registered 7.6 million shares of its stock with the Securities and Exchange Commission for resale from time to time by Thermo Electron Corp. (TMO).

Thoratec won't receive any proceeds from the sale of the stock, which Thermo Electron acquired under a 2000 merger agreement between Thoratec and Thermo Cardiosystems Inc., the shelf filing with the SEC Wednesday said. Thermo Cardiosystems was a unit of Thermo Electron before its merger with Thoratec.

The shares covered by the registration had an estimated value of $52 million.

Thoratec, based in Pleasanton, Calif., makes medical devices for vascular and cardiac applications
