Its funny, how Progressives when they talk about America supporting Iraq, forget about Iran/Contra. They neglect the fact, that the United States did not want Saddam to beat Iran, and take over Iran's oil fields. Nor did the United States want Iran to defeat Iraq, and spread its Revolution through out the region.

So, much of the gassing of Iraqi civilians (since bemoaned by countless US politicians) was carried out from helicopters sold to Saddam by the Reagan administration with a wink and a nod....

And this was only a few years after the Reagan/Bush stinger missile sale to Iran in the Iran-Contra scandal.

Nothing like stirring up the pot in the pursuit of 'Big Power' politics.
