It's always a problem when the US abandons it's long-term self interests (promoting democracy, honest legal systems, free markets, open trade, human rights) for dubious short-term tactical interests.

"Friendly" dictator-of-the-day is not a sufficient reason for US military sales.

Charles,

Part of the result of U.S. meddling was a stalemate in the Iran-Iraq war. I prefer that to a winner. Did you favor an Iraqi victory or Iranian?

"then wondering why hostilities escalate"

It's all America's fault, right Charlie? Are all the worlds problems created by the U.S. iyo? If the miserable dicatorships and kingdoms that oppress their people could follow our lead maybe they would not kill and hate as much as they do. Pretty easy for simpletons like you to just blame the U.S.

Is there anything good about the U.S. in your view, or just evil that causes others to destroy each other?
