Great. We prohibit CDMA so NK can buy GSM. SEcrity problem is the same. However, we could approve CDMA but work with gov off SK to incorporate the ability to disable the system should security needs dictate. Besides, SK will know exactly where the key network infrastructure is.

Incorrect: <North Korea, famously billed by President George W. Bush as part of the 'axis of evil', could only begin using CDMA technology if Qualcomm presents the network's operator with a licence to do so. >

Service providers don't need a licence from QUALCOMM. The handset makers and infrastructure suppliers do. But not for particular customers or networks.

Re: No CDMA for the Axis of Evil

Is this the little straw that broke the camel's back today? No CDMA in NK is worth a 7% haircut?

Next we'll hear that NK is offering diplomatic concessions to get CDMA! "We'll give up our weapons of mass destruction if you will just let us have 1X. Don't stick us with GSM. Pleeease!!!"

Arrrgh...
