Bill: I just said what I would do. I would mobilize a major diplomatic mission aimed at forging a consensus on the WMD issue. I don't see any progress on this issue at all. The administration has put all its eggs in the military basket. Powell is undermined at every opportunity. The problem for Bush is that the military probably don't want to go into Iraq -- they are not that crazy. And the whole world is against it. The US must develop and deploy a diplomatic capability that has been all but lost. Bush Sr. did it. Lets see Bush Jr. do it.

hey- so do you think theres anything the fed can do with these markets where they are? Or are they stuck since lowering rates/adding to money supply won't work. Even though Bush is "postive" on the economy according to the yahoo news today, the fed has to be concerned doncha think?

Oh yes, one other thing, Bush should take the advice of the King of Jordan and deal with the Palestinian issue -- Israel makes the same mistakes we do -- all military and less and less diplomacy. When Bush said to Sharon get out of the refugee camps, there should have been consequences. Immediate and no-nonsense. When we have taken decisive steps in the Isreali-Palestinian conflict, then we will have a shred of moral authority to take the lead on Iraq.
