AA, earlier today you were talking about tooo scary? Well, this is all based on straight TA, (cuz I don't know enough E-Waves yet to understand half of what youse guys talk about, let alone apply it myself).

Anyhow, it's plain old pattern analysis on the indexes, and it's really, really FUGLY! I was trying to tell myself that these declines were just retests -- and thus not really worthy of being called "patterns," but I've capitulated on that idea, and I now realize I must call a spade a spade. More specifically, I must call a whole bunch of bear flags "a whole bunch of bear flags."

Here are the numbers I arrive at:

COMP 1120
NDX 800
SPX 760
DOW 7571
SOX 250
BTK 281
BKX 580
XAU 43

And here are the charts, (all on one page for easy perusal). investorshub.com

TIMEFRAME? I'm guessing this week, but... {SHRUG}

Yes, you could very well be correct there. The best thing about these types of markets, economic, and business cycles tho are that they are Darwinian to a certain degree, and in the end, the survivors are stronger for it going forward in many regards.

Anecdotally, I've seen it right down to the "man on the street" levels in my own business experience. Even when i was a kid in the trades 20 some years ago you could see the change in the attitude of consumers and business people as this country approached a time of economic and political uncertainty, like we are closing in on now. Lackeys and non - professionals who piled in when times were good are washed out as competition levels increase, and only the skilled tradesmen keep clientele.

I think these are some of the macro changes that will translate into trading ranges in the equities markets once the volatility is washed out. There should be some wonderful opportunities to trade patterns as they develop in non violent trends sans whipsaws.
