Well, the whole Gulf War could have been prevented if we'd been more proactive in discouraging Saddam to invade Kuwait and find a peaceful solution to his dispute with the Kuwaities. We knew he was amassing troops on the border with Kuwait, but did nothing but tell him we don't take sides in an Arab Arab dispute. The Kuwaities surely would have thanks us if we had prevented the Gulf War from happening.

As for Viet Nam. The 1,000,000s of Indochinese who died as a result of our folly in Southeast Asia in the 1960s and early 1970s can't thank us because they are dead. The other ones who we made refuges out of can also not thank us, because we caused major disruption in their lives.

If war is not a racket, then why is it that the wealthy's children rarely if ever fight in them. Did you know that during American Civil War a wealthy northerner could buy his way out of military service? War is a racket and the wealthy are the ones who benefit. Who was it that avoided service in Viet Nam through defferals and other means? That's right the children of the wealthy.
