This online survey data is starting to remind me of the vision of democracy that Ross Perot was starting to flesh out in his failed 1992 Presidential bid. He envisioned just this sort of participatory democracy. At least the part of it that said informed citizen ought to have some say. Of course, the reality is that the Bushies are probably arrogant enough to try to push their devious agenda ahead in spite of the will of the people being dead set against them. This reminds me of the debates that took place in this country in the mid to late 1930's regarding the ominous drumbeat of war coming from Europe.

Here's a bit of history on an important pacifict and isolationist of the time, Smedley Butler. It turns out he knew damn well what a racket war is, since he'd served the bankers and CEOs admirably for decades:
