I was on the Inca Trail in Peru this last December. One night we camped at about 13'000 ft. There was a active and prolonged lighting storm one valley over from us. the lightning was arcing UP out of the clouds to the stars. I've never seen anything like it.

It's a hell of show this planet can put on.

I've camped through some very spectacular ones in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The place is beautiful, but when it storms, there is so much light, you could probably read… And when it thunders, you ‘know’ that the sky is ‘talking’ to you personally… (ng). More than once I called myself crazy for bringing children there, but we always ended up coming back. Best vacation.
