G,

Is the Fischer piece dated a week from today? Is that the date of the next issue of Forbes?

I've been lurking for months and haven't missed a post on this and similar threads for years.

Thanks for all your great charts.

D

Gotttried, Re: Ken Fisher

He recommended people to short AMAT(he thought it would be dead meat through the end of this year) and control the risk by longing QQQ ! That was back in May.

Not something AMAT longs would be glad to hear !

Taiwan Semicon Board OKs NT$17 Billion For Operations Capacity, Equipment

TAIPEI -(Dow Jones)- The board of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSM) approved Tuesday the spending of NT$17.03 billion (US$1=NT$34) to increase capacity and fit equipment at one of its next generation 300-millimeter wafer fabrication plants.

The funds will go toward raising capacity for the next generation 90-nanometer advanced copper processes at its Fab 12 and providing first-stage facility equipment there, TSMC said.

The amount isn't expected to have an impact on the foundry's total capital expenditure for this year, TSMC said.

TSMC, the world's largest foundry, said earlier that capital expenditure in 2002 won't exceed US$2 billion.

Fab 12 is the company's second full-scale 300-millimeter, or 12-inch, manufacturing plant in the Hsinchu Science-based Industrial Park.

The board also Tuesday approved the establishment of an audit committee and an audit committee charter to further strengthen the firm's corporate governance, TSMC said.

The board also named Sir Peter L. Bonfield, professor Lester C. Thurow, professor Michael E. Porter and Robbert Brakel as members of the audit committee with Bonfield as committee chairman, TSMC said.

In addition, the board approved sponsorship of an issuance of American Depositary Receipts by certain shareholders to dispose of a portion of their common shares. The amount of common shares in the disposal won't exceed 0.5% of TSMC's total outstanding common shares, TSMC said.
