<< It is clear to me that street to street fighting will not go well for us.>>

Why? Such fighting would be between the majority of Iraqi troops who hate Saddam and a random few who also hate him, but who also think he would surive the war.>>

<<And the reaction in the rest of the Arab world will threaten to topple all of the "US friendly" regime we say are our friends -- including Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. The US as Arab nation builder? -- >>

The rest of the Arab world would voice that opinion publicly. In reality, there is nothing they would like more than to see Saddam toppled with Western troops and money at risk, not theirs.

The rest of the arab nations hate Saddam as much as his own people hate him. Remember the Iran-Iraq war? Or the occupation of Kuwait? Saudi Arabia is unstable from within and they do not want to have to worry about Saddam as well.

In any event, I think waepons inspectors will go back in before there is a war.
