2.) A relevant detail of what earnings are possible sans current quarter business decisions (expenses) that were made to 'lean' the company going forward.
3.) Operating Information and ratios that the individual investor might not otherwise have access to.
4.) More information upon which to base a decision.
5.) Conforms to the current Broker Pimps "methods" of estimating earnings.

<Why is GE willing to expense options but not CSCO? >

1.) Cause GE is willing to rewrite the currently existing accounting regulations for some reason?

Here's a question for you: Since GE is expensing the options within the income statement, are they also going to use Fully Diluted Shares Outstanding to calcualte EPS? Thus double counting the expense?
