Dave, I worked at CSCO for 6 years, I learned the trading patterns of that stock a long time ago. Last May was one in many examples where the right play is to do exactly the opposite of what the stock does going into earnings. If the stock sells into earnings, buy a couple of hours before the earnings announce. If it rises into earnings, you sell a couple of hours before earnings are announced.
