Sears Chooses Dell for Full-Line Store Infrastructure Upgrade
AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 6, 2002--U.S. retailer Sears, Roebuck and Co. has chosen Dell (Nasdaq:DELL - News) to provide hardware and deployment services to update the technology infrastructure of the company's 870 full-line stores.

The rollout is scheduled for completion in the fall.

Under the Sears CRT Replacement Project, Dell will provide approximately 1,800 PowerEdge(tm) 2500 servers, seven PowerVault(tm) 220S storage systems, 3,700 OptiPlex(tm) GX50 desktops, and 14,600 Dell E551 and E771p monitors to replace CRT (cathode-ray tube) terminals.

Sears also purchased Dell Premier Enterprise Service and Support for servers, which provides for a four-hour response time to technical problems around the clock.

Same Day, 4-Hour Response Service(a) provides special protection for time-sensitive applications requiring higher system uptime by sending a Dell-trained technician and delivering parts within four hours of dispatch from Dell. Available either 24 hours a day, 7 days a week(b) or 10 hours a day, 5 days a week(c), this service is offered for servers, storage products, workstations and OptiPlex® desktops and is available within a 125-mile radius of over 80 cities(d).

The CRT Replacement Project is part of Sears' full-line store productivity improvement initiative, which includes providing store employees automated recruiting and training, including the use of streaming video.

Squeeze? What squeeze??? Remember when you and I bought Intel last week, and I sold for a 10 cent profit the next day because I didn't like how things looked??? Well, this 'squeeze' has resulted in you probably being down around 15% on your Intel in one week. The only 'squeeze' is on the buy and hold longs... You better wait till LONGONDELL/LONGONFIBER/SECULAR BULL once again changes his name, hopefully this time to SECULARBEAR for the bottom...
