That sounds right. Hitler also didn't have much of a plan for actually invading Britain - he thought it would just surrender if he bombed it enough. When it didn't, neither he nor his generals had a backup plan ready to go - hitherto they'd just rolled their tanks across the countryside, but they couldn't do that across the Channel. So the RAF got its breathing space, and then Hitler got PO'd at Stalin for taking too much of Eastern Europe and decided to go after him instead. Add to that his volunteering to assist Japan if they attacked the US...talk about hubris.
