(COMTEX) B: More mineralization found at Huevos Verdes B: More mineralization found at Huevos Verdes Argentina, Aug 06, 2002 (BNamericas.com via COMTEX) -- Latest surface sampling at the El Pluma/Cerro Saavedra project in southern Argentina's Santa Cruz province has returned new gold-silver mineralization finds, Spokane-based property holder Minera Andes (TSX: MAI) reported Tuesday. The sampling, undertaken by JV partner Mauricio Hochschild & Cia (MHC) of Peru, is part of a larger property-wide mapping and sampling program to define drilling targets set for 4Q02. Some of the highest-grade samples were collected on the property's Huevos Verdes trend at Pluma South, doubling the potential size of the vein system to 5km, Minera Andes said in a statement. Results from a total of 92 surface rock chip samples at Pluma South ranged from nil to 81.7g/t gold, and nil to 933g/t silver. Anomalous gold samples included 25 assaying at least 0.50g/t, of which 12 samples exceeded 1.0g/t. Anomalous silver samples included 10 assays over 50g/t. Huevos Verdes is one of four parallel gold-silver vein targets identified at the project, along with La Sorpresa, El Pluma West and Huevos Verdes East. The mineralized nature of all four trends was confirmed by the latest sampling results, Minera Andes said. MHC is earning a 51% stake in the Huevos Verdes project under a joint venture signed with Minera Andes last year. The Peruvian company must spend US$3mn over three years and pay Minera Andes US$400,000/y. URL: bnamericas.com (C) Copyright 1996 - 2001 Business News Americas Ltda.
