yes they still allow "jump seat" rides as far as I know, my father in law uses them often. In fact he lives 2000 miles from where he is based, so often times when he goes on a trip he flies using the "jump seat" to get to his takeoff point.

you have a point, the "jump seat" pilot could not be a pilot at all I suppose......

which brings up the question of instituting a database of "real pilot" thumb prints, or eye scans, to be checked before boarding plane as either pilot, or jump jet rider...

but that means more security measures, just what I was making fun of<g>...
