<Dell hopes to get into the printer business, probably this year, although many analysts believe it would not make economic sense for the company to make the complex products on its own. >

Why not if they have the excess manufacturing space, or can buy someone cheap with the space and ability.

I see that as good. My two-year-old Canon all-in-one printer, fax, etc. is a piece of crap that can't hold a candle to Canon's former products.

"Their prices are cheap," he said. "We will not do low-end products in printers."

vbg. Canon already does low end products, at not such cheap prices, and under its own name. Whether it admits it or not.
