DJX and XAU in opposition

You did not ask me but DJX and XAU are not hedges.
They have nothing to do with each other.

A hedge might be short the naz and buy the spoos or short S and buy WMT, short BZH (one of the weakest home builders) and buy LEN. Etc.

The Dow and gold, if anything might act in union not as contrary. Best guess is little to no correlation.

I do not offer a charge by analysis service as I tend to periodically go over a bunch of charts for subscribers including a number of major indexes, oil, gold, bonds, etc....

I don't think the DJX and gold would be ideal hedges for each other. Gold is more tied to currency movement (primarily the dollar) though the DJX may have some influence as well. I don't use hedge plays that often so I really don't have a better idea. I like to try and catch the main trend and use alternate management strategies when I miss.
