MW, Covered call writing is great and I do it often. But it is very weak as a hedge. Selling covered calls on some of these falling knives may have given you superior relative performance, you earned a premium, but still awful absolute performance. One thing most folks forget is that owning stock and writing calls is a pretty bullish strategy. Best, MB
