I agree with you completely. I think it's a joke that they tax dividends. Either tax the company on earnings or tax the individual, not both. Same thing with mutual funds. People get taxed twice on those as well. Or more if you think about it (companies get taxes, funds payout capital gains, then individuals have to pay taxes again on sales of funds with NAV increases). That's what happens when you have lawyers working up our tax laws, when they don't even know how to balance their budget or their checkbooks.
