Is racial profiling really that effective against an enemy which can recruit people like Richard Reid, Jose Padilla, or John Walker Lindh?

Reed, Padilla, and Lindh aren't Arabs. Two are native-born Americans and one's a Brit. They all have either Anglo or Hispanic names and are of varied racial backgrounds. The only common element is conversion to Islamic extremism. How do you profile for that?
