Hi albert kovalyov; Re: "well move heavy artillery to the waterfront in France and you have complete control " [to invade across the English Channel].

Too bad the military leaders in Britain and the United States were unable to figure out such a simple solution to invading Europe. Instead they did it the hard way. They must have been real morons.

I guess we can say the same thing about the military leaders of WW1. They were mired in static trench warfare for most of 4 years. Instead of getting stuck in the mud, they should have just moved "heavy artillery" to the front and had "complete control".

It's much easier for troops to advance over a small body of water like the English Channel than it is for them to advance across rugged terrain covered with barbed wire and shell holes. All they had to do is bring up the artillery and dog paddle across the water. The ones that didn't know how to swim could use water wings.
