volatility was high on the first bottom in 74, but not on the second bottom. volatility is still rising. it may actually be higher than the implied volatility or the VIX at this point. OEX volatility is in the high 40s to 50s, depending on whether one uses the 30-, 20-, or 10-day actual volatility. volatility was very low on the 82 bottom. that one may have been more of a sideways bottom before the breakout.
