But from QCOM's perspective, they sold at least 493K handsets with 1X chips in them... that's what really matters to us... unless you're a KDDI stockholder.

OK, as long as one realizes that is not the same as KDDI net adds.

My point was CDMA vs competing technologies. I would think CDMA garnering half of all
net subscriber growth would get someone's attention...especially considering the very
small base CDMA currently has in Japan. If you include W-CDMA (which QCOM gets a
royalty on), it is over 55% of 528K new adds.
