I mentioned the "Twinkies defense" earlier. I think that that sort of thing, which is not founded on reputable research, nor has any consensus on clinical criteria, much less on the application of criteria, should be excluded as a matter of law. That is no reason to trash the traditional categories, such as insanity. If you want the justice system to lose credibility, put a raving maniac, who thinks he is the Archangel Michael at the battle of Armaggedon, in a maximum security prison instead of an asylum. Even a child knows the difference between meaning something and not meaning it. Even if the distinction is over-worked to exculpate the guilty, it is there.......
